Complete overhaul of a subscription management platform to improve usability, streamline workflows, and enhance overall user experience. The goal was to create a more intuitive and efficient platform for both administrators and end-users.
Project description
Bulletin is a smart, big-screen news platform designed to let users read, watch, and listen to current affairs content in one place. Whether it’s live broadcasts, podcasts, featured articles, or real estate listings, Bulletin brings it all together in a lean-back experience tailored for both individual users and enterprise clients.
Timeline
The project spanned several years and evolved in phases, depending on client interest and new opportunities. While the core experience for this white-label solution was built within a short sprint, design exploration and prototyping were revisited as client prospects emerged.
Background
We saw a gap in the market for an immersive, passive-first news experience that worked as well in a home lounge as it did in an office foyer or public-facing display. The goal was to create something engaging, easily skinnable for clients, and monetisable via multiple ad placements.
Solution
We created a scalable content experience that balanced interactivity with passive viewing. Designed to work in various physical environments, Bulletin integrates a wide range of media formats and includes monetisable features that align with different client goals.
Multi-format Content Integration
Designed layouts to support videos, podcasts, articles, and real estate listings in one seamless experience.
Passive Mode Experience
Built a passive viewing state featuring breaking news feeds, a live player, and optional widgets to keep screens engaging at all times.
Monetisation Opportunities
Included space for ads on the For You page, Article page, pre-rolls, and within the passive state to support client revenue.
Flexible Client Reskinning
Developed a component-based design system that allows rapid rebranding across various client types and industries.
Process
Our process blended design thinking with rapid prototyping, making it easy to pitch the product to potential clients. Each phase was aimed at balancing innovation with implementation feasibility.
Research & Planning
Defined key use cases for personal, workplace, and public environments. Mapped content journeys accordingly.
Wireframes to Hi-fi
Created wireframes and evolved them into high-fidelity screens using a modular component system.
Component-level Prototyping
Prototyped animations and transitions within Figma at a granular level to demonstrate product polish.
Sales Enablement
Produced a high-fidelity video prototype to help potential clients visualise how their branded version of Bulletin could look.
RESULTS
The flexible, polished output helped validate the product's potential with clients and laid the groundwork for future business opportunities. The design system and prototyping efforts significantly reduced onboarding time for customisations.
Client Engagement
The video prototype served as a core asset in initial conversations and pitch decks.
Reusability
The modular system enabled fast rebranding and layout adjustments for new client verticals.
Visual Engagement
The passive state and component animations added value by keeping screens dynamic, even when not in active use.
